Once you've signed the lease, paid the initial rent & security, and moved in to your new apartment, what exactly is
the landlord responsible for?
Well, they're certainly not responsible for helping you move all of your possessions into the new apartment and
keeping your new place clean! They are, however, responsible for providing working carbon monoxide
detectors, repairs and upkeep of the building itself, fixing cracks in the sidewalk out front, and ensuring that the
apartment is safe for young children. The apartment owner is also responsible for maintenance of all of the
permanent fixtures within the rental unit - kitchen appliances, faucets, toilets, heating units, etc.
Keep the superintendent and management company's contact information on hand at all times in case anything
ever does come up!
