Furnished Sublets,
Short-Term

What if I'm leaving town temporarily and want to sublet my NYC apartment?
Every landlord has different feelings about allowing renters to sublet their apartment. Most leases state that, as a
renter you can sublet the apartment, however, the landlord has the right to approve the specific subletter on a
case by case basis. If you do plan on subletting your apartment rental at some point in time, you should certainly
bring this up with the landlord before you sign a lease.
If do end up subletting your NYC apartment, you are still responsible for making sure the rent is paid to the
landlord on time. Remember that a sublet agreement is purely between, you as tenant, and the person(s)
subletting the apartment. All of the terms and conditions in the original lease between you and the landlord are
still in effect.
