How much should I expect my rent to go up once my current lease expires?

Well, if you live in a rent stabilized apartment, the rent raises will be limited by the rent stabilization guidelines.  If
you do not live in a rent stabilized apartment and you have been a good tenant (paid your rent on time and not
disrupted any of the other tenants), you should generally expect a 3-5% rent raise.  Landlords want to keep their
good tenants and will usually offer reasonable terms to keep them as a renters.  After all, an existing renter has
established a track record with the building owner.

Just like the initial rent price, the montly rent for a lease renewal is always negotiable!
