When will my security deposit be returned after I leave my apartment rental?

The landlord holds a security deposit for two reasons:  the first reason is in case you do not make a rent payment;
the second is for physical damages to the apartment or any of it's fixtures.  If you have made timely rent payments
and have not done any damage to the apartment (aside from normal wear and tear), you should expect to receive
your security deposit back within 4 - 6 weeks of vacating.

Remember, it is always good to leave on a positive note as a landlord can provide a valuable letter of reference
to which may help you secure a place in the future!
