Renters can typically find some of the best deal's between Thanksgiving and New Years Day.  Why is this you ask?  Because it is the slowest time for the NYC rental market.  A lot of people are busy with family events, work functions and holiday shopping; they just don't want to dedicate additional time to hunt for an apartment to rent.
 
Landlords will typically offer discounted rent prices during the holiday season as well as move-in incentives such as 2-4 weeks of free rent, gift cards, help with the move, flexible lease terms, etc.
