With 2.5 million residents, Brooklyn is the largest county in New York State. Also known as Kings county, Brooklyn is the second most densely populated county in New York after Manhattan. It was until 1898 that Brooklyn was autonomous. Brooklyn comprises of approximately 96.9 square miles with it's main thorofares being the Brooklyn Queens Expressway, Belt Parkway, and Prospect Expressway.
